How to create a newsletter
Click the gear icon on the side menu.
Click the ‘Newsletter’ tab in the header.
Header
Newsletter headers serve as a brief introduction at the top of a newsletter, providing a snapshot of the content and enticing readers to explore further. They often include a catchy introduction and key visuals to engage the audience.
You can pick the type of header you want from the dropdown menu:
None - Deliver the article summary and the URL
Image - Upload an image to visually enhance the newsletter content. When this option is selected, a Text overlay field will appear, allowing you to add custom text on top of the uploaded image.
Video - Upload a video file, it will be played directly within the messaging service. The supported format is MP4. Maximum upload size of 16 MB.
Audio - Upload an audio file, it will be played directly within the messaging service - Supported formats are MP3, OGG, and WAV. Maximum upload size of 16 MB.
Introduction
Add a brief, yet descriptive introduction about what readers can expect from the newsletter. This field is mandatory for publishing the newsletter and it is automatically bolded.
Manually adding content
After selecting a header, and adding an introduction, follow these steps to manually create a newsletter:
Select up to three articles to include in the newsletters.
Add a brief text to provide a preview of what is in the article.
Please note that WhatsApp has character restrictions, which are detailed in each article field.
Loading content from an RSS feed
To load up to three of the most recent articles from an RSS feed, follow these steps:
Enable the RSS toggle.
Paste the RSS feed URL.
You can send up to 3 articles in a newsletter and also select the days and time on which you wish to send recurring newsletters.
If you're using an RSS feed, enable link shortening from the workspace settings to keep links at a predictable character length. We support XML-formatted RSS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS#Example
Tip!
After clicking ‘Load’ next to the RSS link, if there is no content:
The address may be incorrect. Make sure the address is spelled correctly. Try loading the feed directly in your browser to make sure a feed exists at that address.
Make sure the address points to a feed, not a web page.
The feed may be temporarily unavailable. The server may be down, or too slow. Try again later.
Note:
In Facebook Messenger, images appear after the message. Also, the main menu is available only until an option is chosen from it.
In Telegram, images are not displayed if there is a link. URL previews always take precedence over images.
Enabling link shortening and analytics
Improve readability with shorter URLs and gather analytics tracking.
Navigate to Settings and click on the 'Workspace' tab.
Enable the Link Management toggle for shortening and analytics.
UTM codes are optional. They are embedded in the newsletters and reports. You could customize the UTM code for appended links to track the clicks.
Click 'Update' to apply the changes.
Rewritten links will include the UTM code, but the destination URL remains unchanged.
Scheduling the newsletter
To send the newsletter input a date manually or click the calendar icon and select a date. Pick your preferred day and time.
For the RSS feed, you can choose multiple days of the week to send the newsletter. For consistency, keep the number of articles in a newsletter below the number of what is expected to be published. Also, note that if there are no new articles in the RSS feed, the newsletter will not be sent.
Click 'Schedule' to publish the newsletter. Use the 'Save' button to store for publishing later. Click 'Pause' to temporarily stop scheduling and make changes.
Note:
The time format and default timezone are based on the browser settings of the user scheduling the newsletter.
If you're scheduling for a timezone different from your location, make sure to update the timezone preference accordingly.
Manual time adjustment is needed during daylight saving time as we don't convert automatically.
