You can create comments and tags at particular time codes on videos that have been uploaded or linked to on Check.

For any item that has a video that can be annotated, there will be a blue button labeled "Timeline"

Click this button to open the video annotation timeline interface.

  • The Video Annotation interface features a timeline that corresponds to the timeline in the video player.

  • The playhead (vertical blue line on the timeline) indicates what part of the video is being played, or where it is paused (1)

  • On any point in the timeline you can add a note (2) or create a tag (3) that will highlight a specific section of the video.

  • Click the "X" on the right side of the Timeline to exit the Video Annotation view (4) and return to the main item page.

Notes

You can leave notes at particular times in the video. Notes appear in the row labeled "Notes" at the top of the timeline. You and other users can reply to any note with additional notes.

To create a note at a particular time in the video:

  • Make sure the player is positioned on where you want to add the note. The exact timestamp of that note shows up in the gray bar at the top of the note window.

  • Click the plus sign to the right of the label "Notes"

  • Type your message into the text window that pops up and hit "save"

To view a note or reply to that note, click on the profile icon in the "Notes" row on the timeline.

You can edit notes through a dropdown menu by hovering your pointer over the note then clicking on the three dots (1) and clicking Edit (2).

To delete the entire note and all of its replies, click on the trash can item.

Viewing notes on the Item page

When the video timeline is closed, you can view any notes that were added to the timeline in the 'Notes' tab (1). Clicking the timeline icon (2) will open the timeline and position the playhead where the note was made (3).

Tags

You can tag segments of a video with labels to keep track of events or trends in a video. Each tag has its own row on the timeline, and can be used to track multiple segments of the video for any length. Segments for a particular tag will show up as blue bars in the row for that tag.

You can play the segments for all of the tags by clicking the play icon to the left of the "Tags" label.

  • Click on the plus sign to the right of the label "Tags" then enter the name of your tag into the text field and hit enter/return on your keyboard.

  • Click the "X" to the right of the text field to cancel. The timeline will automatically make a segment for that tag at the time where the video is playing or paused. The exact timestamp of that note shows up in the gray bar at the top of the note window.

  • To add a segment for your tag at a particular time in the video, make sure the video is playing or paused at that time and click the tag name itself.

  • To change the length of a segment, hover your pointer over the left or right side of that segment until a dark blue line appears on the blue bar, then click and drag the bar to shorten or lengthen the segment in that direction. You can also click the arrows appear when you hover over side of a segment to length or shorten it.

  • To delete a segment for that tag, hover over the middle of that segment (1) and click the trash icon that appears over it (2).

  • To find the options to delete and edit tags, hover your pointer over the tag name and click on the three gray dots that appear to the right of the name.

Using tags across Items on Check

Video tags will also show up as tags on the main item page, which can be used to document trends across video items if you use that same tag name to create tags for other videos. Clicking on a tag will take you to the dashboard with all of the video items that have that tag.

Clicking on the icon of a video tag will open the timeline and position the playhead at the beginning of the tag.
